Phenomenal restaurant with great service, food, and location. My friends and I arrived on a beautiful weather day so we elected to eat outside. Their outdoor eating deck is huge and showcases beautiful views of the nearby river. I popped inside to take a look and found the interior elegant. This is a great atmosphere to eat and meet with friends it reminds me of an upscale version of Houlihan's. The dark wood finishes and smell of mesquite wood filled every corner of the establishment and lended itself to a sophisticated feel. We found the service to be accommodating and speedy. This restaurant was quite busy especially on the outside patio yet the kitchen was steady churning out food. The food was excellent as well. I ordered the Lobster Mac n' Cheese which I found to be an extremely large and rich portion. Plenty of lobster with perfectly cooked noodles in a very rich n creamy sauce. I also tried the fried pickles and loved the accompanying sauce. The French Onion soup was excellent. It was very cheesy and quite creamy. Creamier than I am used to but very tasty. The coffee they served was also excellent as it was smooth and flavorful. Pier 500 did not disappoint!
Come for the view, stay for the chicken wild rice soup & smoked chicken! The ceviche is fresh and delicious, i'd absolutely order it again. We came on a Sunday, midday. There was plenty of street parking and they had a table for us right away. We sat on the patio where we had an amazing view of the St. Croix river. The server was kind and quick, with a bubbly personality. Although they got our order wrong, they were sure to fix it quickly so that we could enjoy our meal together.
Visited 7/16/24. 3.5/5 stars (rounded up). Came around 2:30 with 2 others and we were seated right away. You do have to pay for parking and although it's cheap it was a bit of an inconvenience. There is a lot though right off the restaurant. Started off with cocktails and each was flavorful and easy to drink with a good balance of alcohol and flavor. They definitely did seem fairly busy with not too much staff so I commend the waitress who had to wait on a big chunk of the patio. We ended up splitting the bang bang cauliflower app special, brie cheese curds, chicken nachos, and a side of French fries. The brie cheese curds were fine and I loved that we had the option between these and regular cheese curds but they just didn't have the squeakiness/slight crunch that I like in my cheese curds. The bang bang cauliflower was definitely a favorite from all of us. Nachos were solid, and fries were pretty typical. Overall I don't know that I would highly recommend the food, however the ambiance and patio of the place are top notch and make for a fun experience. Good happy hour type spot.
My husband and I, along with another couple, recently had lunch at Pier 500. It was a coolish day, but still warm enough to sit outside. The hostess seated us with a smile and we proceeded to check out the menu while admiring the view. When our server arrived to take our order, the atmosphere changed. The server was snotty and condescending, reluctantly answering our questions and acting like we were silly to ask. After our food arrived and our dining companion realized she had received the wrong soup, the server was defensive about the mistake. In spite of this personality conflict, the rest of our lunch was delicious and we would go back if we are in town, hoping for a different server or a different attitude.
What is a gray day when we always have very sunny and happy days during our dinners at Pier 500? It absolutely does not affect anything. I also have my gray days, anyone can have gray days but the important thing is to know that one arrives at a restaurant where you are well received, where the hospitality is always there and the professionalism of all those smiles makes you feel at home adding the delicious dishes that are included in the Menu. Until next time....
Omg. The food was amazing. The outstanding food was so great and so tasty. I am so happy to have gone there, and I am so happy with the waitresses, and the manager was so nice. The scenery was amazing, being next to the Saint Croix river. The host and the staff there were outstanding. I am so happy to have been there and enjoy all the amazing food. I recommend the Fish & chips, the Sprecher root beer, and the banana creame pie dish for dessert was amazing. The cheese Curds were the best I have ever eaten too. Thanks so much for having us.
We went to Pier 500 for lunch on a Thursday. It's definitely the older crowd at lunch time. Relaxing none the less. We grabbed a table outside with a nice view of the river. I ordered the walleye fish sandwich with fries. My hubby ordered the chicken pot pie and my daughter ordered pasta with green beans (they do have a kids menu). No complaints from anyone. My fish was really good. Our waitress was really friendly and attentive. This was a good stop in Hudson!
It's funny I would come here a long time ago just to have drinks with colleagues after work. The sad thing is we never had much to eat so I didn't know what to think when we visited. We were trying to make it there last summer but it was always packed and parking was challenging. However, my fiance and I decided to come earlier in the day and we arrived we were happy that the parking lot was pretty empty and we got a great parking spot. So when we arrived it was pretty slow inside, not a lot of patrons inside. I've always loved how nice it is on the inside, and you can see the rotisserie going full of chickens. Bathrooms are always clean and the restaurant. I do not remember our servers name but she was a younger gal. She was helpful, friendly, and kind. We enjoyed the food, the service, and the environment and we will definitely return.
